Introduction
The global pandemic forced educational institutions and professionals worldwide to adapt to remote learning and virtual experiences. In this case study, we share our collaboration with renowned photographer and filmmaker Norman Seeff, leveraging technology to create an engaging and interactive live seminar for students of the University of Nebraska. The event was designed to offer insights into the creative process while bridging the gap between remote attendees, overcoming the limitations of digital platforms, and fostering a sense of connection.
Context
Dale Jensen, a member of the advisory board for the Rake School, initiated the collaboration with Norman Seeff. The goal was to organize a presentation where Seeff could share his insights into the creative process and its connection to human emotions. The presentation aimed to inspire students to embrace the unknown, step out of their comfort zones, and engage in intimate, personal experiences.
Execution
The hybrid livestream seminar featured a Zoom call with students from the University of Nebraska, full production integrated into the platform, and remote control of the presentation from Alberta, Canada. Norman Seeff delivered the seminar from California, providing an immersive experience despite geographical barriers.
The seminar began with introductions from Dale Jensen and Norman Seeff, followed by an interactive discussion on the creative process, emotions, and the importance of embracing uncertainty.
