Global News conducted a hidden camera investigation to see if anything has changed since their last expose on racial profiling in Calgary nightclubs. Chris Griffiths and Joel Fage Wright went undercover wearing microphones while cameras filmed their interactions with bouncers at various clubs. They were denied entry into five clubs out of six because of their appearance, while Caucasian patrons wearing similar outfits were allowed in. Bar owners had vowed to be more sensitive to the issue after the previous expose, but some people from ethnic communities have said that racial profiling has gotten worse. The investigation highlights the issue of racism in Calgary and has led to a town hall discussion on the matter.
